Have you gone through a phase of buying something just to flaunt it? Well, it is not an expensive purse or a mobile phone we are talking about here. How about spending nearly Rs.1 crore on a car just to say you are metropolitan! Shocked? Well, that is how 101 businessmen in Aurangabad think, spending nearly Rs. 60 crore for bulk purchases of 101 BMW cars.

This is not the first time that Aurangabad based businessmen have made such outrageous purchases. Earlier this year, 150 Mercedes cars were purchased by the influential class for Rs.65 crore for the same reason. This indeed brings this two tier city in limelight, but yet sadly, does not make it a metropolitan city.

Instead of competing with metropolitan cities, Aurangabad could have utilized this money to make their own city roads better. After all, the numerous potholes treat a Mercedes and a Nano the same way!
