NMDC to set up 2nd steel plant in Chhattisgarh in JV


State-run National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) today said
it plans to set up its second steel plant in Chhattisgarh, which will
have a capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

The country's largest public sector iron ore-miner plans to set up the
integrated steel plant in a joint venture (JV) at an investment of
around Rs 10,000 crore.

"We will set up our second steel plant in Chhattisgarh with a capacity
of two million tonnes per annum (MTPA). We will announce the JV
partner by the end of this fiscal," NMDC Chairman and Managing
Director Rana Som told reporters here.

However, Som, did not reveal the exact location and timeframe for
construction of the steel plant.
